Go Cubs Go

I'd like to thank the directors (Daddy) the writers (Mama) and my fans (Charlotte) for this award I have received today!

Our soccer season started a few months ago:
-a bunch of awkward "athletes"
-a first time soccer Coach that doesn't really know soccer, but used to play hackeysak
-nervous parents wondering what to expect
-one star that dominated every game

Our soccer season ended tonight:
-each player exceeded their highest goals
-a Coach that goes down in history for his skill. Always coached to each players level. Teaching humility to the star and confidence to the clumsy
-a camaraderie amongst parents with contact information exchanged and a date on the calendar for our next gathering
-a star that passed to the Littlest Guy our entire last game. In exchange the Little Guy made the most goals of all time

On a more personal note, Lily cried through her first game due to nerves but never got off the field (to my shock and awe). She improved throughout the season and showed much skill during practice, but was always very timid on the field. And I don't blame her for this. I, for one, was never a ball player. And we have spent much time teaching Lily to share. How strange now... to teach her... on a field... in a game...TAKE IT AWAY! RIP EM DOWN! (ok, not quite that extreme, but you get the idea). On this last game, like all her teammates, she SHINED. Finally, she had the will and determination to take the ball away from the other team and (as if in slow motion in the movies) dribbled that ball all the way down the field to her goal (not actually making the goal, but who cares?) She KNEW what to do, which way to go, and she BEAMED with pride with her success. She also received TONS of attention for this from her team, the Coach and the parents that saw her grow this season. And this is just MY story about Lily. Tonight's final game, had a story for every single player on our team that is similar. Every single one of them was a star. THE STAR. I still have goosebumps writing this hours later.
