Day 2 of staycation we did nothing all day.
What a treat!
By evening we headed to the
festival in our little town.
It did not disappoint with its wonderful circus of colors and crowds of
clown-like characters that these festivals bring out.
(my Mom and Dad actually met at one)
And look at the character who joined us!
Uncle Jake rolled into town on his
summer tour of festivals.
It was appropriate to show him
suburbia fest, right?
This may be one kind he missed along the way.
Bad cover bands vs
the great music he's been used to.
We know hipster like nobody's business.
We ran into so many people we knew.
It was great to show Jake how popular we are.
And have always been.
His big joke with us is that "a football player married a pom pom girl."
Classic. Hilarious.
I'll go ahead and finish the story with...
"they had two perfect children
and lived happily ever after."
"And The Mom thinks she can still shake it."
"and so do the perfect children."
In reality, it felt like a hometown fest.
It felt like this town we have been living in since marriage, is really a hometown for us and our kids.
We enjoyed the thrills of the rides.
I was glad I went on the The Scrambler, before my shreddedporknachocheesewafflefries,
and didn't puke.
We stayed until sunset and then headed to the old hood for a familiar backyard party filled with some of our most favorite people that we haven't seen in far too long.
with beers and jokes starting with
"The Lowe Poke's Came!"-upon arrival.
They made Uncle Jake feel like he has always belonged right there with them.
They made D and me feel that we have missed them more than we realized.
A most perfect evening, in most perfect company.
Special thanks to the clown like characters that bring color to our lives.
That's you Jake and The Shooters.
