Friends,
I volunteered at Lily's school for a fun day.
They were doing a STEM project
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
They created bridges, cars, boats, parachutes, and catapults out of regular household items such as aluminum foil, plastic containers, yarn, and plastic bags. To pass the missions they had to meet very specific requirements on speed, size, and strength of their creations. This involved a lot of creativity; inventing, re-inventing, seeing a new perspective, planning, testing, failing, re- testing, communicating, succeeding, and celebrating. It was a wonderful day of experimenting and we all learned a lot. If you also support STEM, Chicago has a wonderful nonprofit organization that supports STEM education, Lumity. I had the pleasure of meeting with Lumity yesterday and they have a generous raffle going on now, with a chance to win a 2015 Lexus NX 200t Sport or $40,000. Buy a ticket and help Lumity drive the future of STEM https://lumity.raffleready.com/2015-lexus-nx-200t-f-sport-raffle Check it out!
