Badger Love

My mom came to visit
(yay!)
this gave Darin and I the opportunity to
head out of dodge.
And go straight back to college.
Which was awesome.

First of all,
it meant hours in the car alone together and an opportunity to talk.
During our daily chats we speak in code, because our children are with us, or lurking,
listening outside the door,
as only curious and attention deprived children do.
We had a sunny day and a car ride alone!
That in itself was awesome.

But even better was getting there.
We parked.
And walked.
And landed right here
with the band in Madison,
on game day.
We starting marching along,
knowing we were on our way to one of our most favorite days of the year.
Badger Tailgate Party.

We weren't exactly sure of the address we were headed to.
But we had been here before
and knew we would return.
So we marched with the band,
up and down the street until the band left us and we heard sounds of familiar.
The voice of our rockstar friend John, which you remember from  here called us in.
We heard him before we saw him and we knew we were in the right place.
John plays rockstar just right to me,
by giving me a secret wink and nod,
while onstage, as we walk in.
Thank you John for fulfilling all my rockstar fantasy's, and letting me be with the band!

Upon entrance we found our hosts for the overnight trip, the Marley's Smiths.
I can't be sure if this was a costume party or not.
The Smith's were dressed up.
But they were dressed as the people they are.
I love having Wisconsin-Jamacian friends, mon'!
Clearly, we got our party on.
Even (self proclaimed) old folks
came to party with us.
My father outlaw walked in and filled my beer.
My mother outlaw listened to all my gossip about old college folks.
The outlaws might be my best friends.

The night ended at a local watering hole by our hosts home in McFarland.
There was a DJ dressed as Jesus.
And an empty dance floor.
You can only imagine what I did with that.
I requested a song and ran back to the bar and to grab my friends and hoot out...

"You Guys!!! Jesus is playing Madonna!"

And those might be the most favorite words that have ever come out of my mouth.

The next morning I cuddled with the
Wisconsin-Jamacian children.
It was just like the best time ever.
Totally.
