The day before, the day before, we go back to school

We found ourselves in a rare opportunity of no plans, so we made a last minute decision to head to the city.
There was no agenda.
We started at Millenium Park.

Daddy and Lily had a great time.
I had a great time.
Charlotte had a horrible start since she needed a snack and a nap.

The best and cheapest entertainment in any city is to people watch.
I secretly wanted to be with these cute friends (setting their photo up just right) and enjoying girl time.
Lily wanted to be on ice skates (but forgot to wear socks)
Some people are born hippies and there is nothing an over anxious mom can do about these things, but accept.

She was fantasizing about being any one of these folks,
and then, she found THE ONE.  The darling little red head in her pretty turquoise outfit.
It was fun to be downtown, NOT working.
Being with kids is so much happier than being with the business crowd.
Being amongst skate boarders is just a bit more than totally rad.

We listened to C's request and went on a search for food.
We stumbled upon this place
You know the kind of place.  Perfect.
Beyond perfect with entertainment.
A 59 year old waiter named Uncle Chach, who entertained us all afternoon while we waited for our deep dish.
I am pretty sure he is showing up at our family Christmas gathering.
Or maybe yours.   Uncle Chach.
And the pretty little red head in her turquoise outfit was sitting behind us.

On the walk back we saw new faces,
and marveled.
Is that a word?
Did I spell it correctly?
Ok, that's enough.
We have to go home, take a bath, go to the store, pack our bags, do our homework, update the calendar, get to bed, its back to school!
